TEAM ACTUATE LIMITED COVID 19 HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY 2020

The following health and safety policy, method statement and risk assessment complies with current guidance from Public Health England and the UK Government for the personal care sector in relation to Covid 19 as of 19 July 2020. It also complies with the demands of our insurers and the Federation of Holistic Therapists. This policy will be updated in accordance with these bodies' latest advice.

Clients with serious/chronic medical conditions or living/caring for people in a high risk group as advised by Public Health England are advised not to have treatments until further notice.

Team Actuate will comply and keep updated with all guidelines from Public Health England, the UK Government and our professional bodies and insurers to ensure the health and safety of our clients and team members.

PROCEDURES FOR BOOKING A TREATMENT

All clients when booking online will have to tick a statement on the booking site confirming they have no symptoms or been in contact with anyone with symptoms, do not have any chronic health concerns, have not been abroad and have been complying with all advice on social distancing. This reads

In making an appointment you confirm you are well and have not been in contact with anyone with symptoms of Covid19. At the time of your treatment your temperature will be taken and hands sanitised prior to entering the treatment room. Our team will wear face coverings and sanitise all equipment. On arrival for their treatment, clients will be shown a screening form outside the treatment room from a safe distance to the answer following questions:

  • Have you had any Covid 19 symptoms or test?
  • If so was it negative?
  • Have you had any of the following symptoms: new cough /fever /loss of smell or taste?
  • Are you living with anyone sick or quarantined?
  • Have you been abroad within the last 14 days?

Clients will then have their temperature taken with an infared thermometer and hands sanitiser before entering the treatment room. Any signs of raised temperature or symptoms and the treatment will be cancelled.

The following measures will be adopted:

  • All Team Actuate therapists will wear a mask at all times and can offer them to clients.
  • Clinical strength sanitiser will be used on all areas the client comes into contact with: door handles/ massage couch /chairs etc.
  • Face pads and towels will be changed between every client, nothing will be reused.
  • Extra thick washable coverings will be used for the face breather holes on massage chairs and table.
  • Used items will be placed in a bag and sealed.
  • Everything will be washed at 70°C.
  • The massage table will be completely sanitised between treatments.
  • Treatment times will be shortened to allow for extra cleaning and to air the room out.

PROCEDURES FOR THERAPISTS

  • Therapists will wear face coverings that are changed 4 hourly and worn and replaced in accordance with PPE guidelines.
  • We will change clothing and shoes that are worn for public transport on arrival at the workplace, which will be placed in sealed bags, fresh clothing and footwear will be worn for treatments.
  • On arrival outside the treatment room, all clients to have their temperature taken by an infa-red hand held thermometer, should they show an raised temperature the appointment will be cancelled. Clients will confirm they have no symptoms or been into contact with anyone with symptoms and have their hands sanitised before entering the treatment area.
  • All uniforms/ outfits to be washed daily at 60°C.
  • All equipment to be sanitised between each client this includes the massage table, door handles, chairs, face pads and any other areas of contact.
  • No couch covers will be used and towels changed for each client and washed at 60°C.
  • Any tissues/wipes or towels used to clean equipment will be sealed in bags and disposed of in a bin only for this use.
  • All therapists to use an infa-red thermometer to check their temperature before coming to work, any signs of a temperature and they agree not to work until their temperature has returned to normal or if they display any of the Covid19 symptoms given by Public Health England.
  • If the therapists should come into contact with someone with Covid19 they will self isolate for 14 days.
  • All therapists agree to use face coverings at all times when on public transport.
  • We will use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol to clean all equipment or areas that clients may come into contact with between clients.
  • Therapists will avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Therapists will avoid using other employees/clients phones, desks, offices, or other work tools and equipment, when possible. If necessary, clean and disinfect them before and after use.
  • Therapists will comply with social distancing by avoiding large gatherings and maintaining distance (approximately 6 feet or 2 meters) from others when possible.
  • All therapists agree to keep updated on the latest advice from Public Health England and the NHS on the virus and comply with all guidelines https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
  • If therapists travel abroad they agree to self isolate for 14 days on their return. All clients travelling abroad will not receive any treatments from Team Actuate for 14 days on their return.
  • New clients will need to fill out a medical screening form online before their first treatment. This can be found at teamactuate.co.uk/medicalscreeningform
  • A gap will be inserted between clients so they enter and leave the treatment room without meeting to maintain social distancing and for extra sanitising of equipment.
  • All payments must be made online or by contactless card payments at the time of the treatment, no cash will be taken.
  • If any clients display symptoms of Covid 19 within 14 days of having a treatment they will inform Team Actuate immediately so we can self isolate.
